How the split works
Each share is the total divided by the number of people. When it doesn't divide evenly to the cent, everyone else rounds up and the person who paid covers the rest, so the money always adds up exactly. For example, $100.00 split three ways is $33.34 for each friend and $33.32 for the payer.

Leaving someone out of the drinks
Of a $100.00 bill, $30.00 was drinks and one of four people didn't drink. Enter the drinks as a separate item and untick that person: the shared $70.00 is split four ways and the drinks three ways.

Different shares
Turn on Different shares to set 1.5× for a big eater or 0× for the birthday friend. For $70.00 with shares 1, 1.5, 0 and 1, the shares add up to 3.5, so 1× is $20.00: $20.00 / $30.00 / $0.00 / $20.00.
Rounding to whole amounts
$123.00 split four ways is $30.75 each. Rounding up to $1.00:
- Payer pays less: friends send $31.00 and the payer covers $30.00.
- Everyone rounds up: everyone pays $31.00 and $1.00 is left over for the kitty or the next round.
