QR Code Scanner

Scan with your camera or pick an image. Handy on a laptop, or for a QR code in a screenshot someone sent you.

QR code scanner

Point the camera at a QR code, or pick a photo or screenshot that contains one.

Scanning happens in your browser. Camera images and pictures are never uploaded.

Scanning on your phone without this page

iPhone: open the Camera app and point it at the code; a link appears at the bottom. Android: use the Camera app or Google Lens. On a computer, or for a code inside an image, this scanner is the quicker route.

If a QR code won't scan

Move closer or farther so the whole code fits inside the frame, avoid glare, and make sure the code isn't cropped. Very dense codes and codes printed light-on-dark are harder to read; scanning a sharp photo with “Scan an image” often works when the live camera doesn't.

Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a QR code from a screenshot?

Tap “Scan an image” and choose the screenshot. The code is read straight from the picture; you don't need a second phone.

Do I need an app to scan QR codes?

No. On most phones the camera app scans QR codes, and this page works in any modern browser on phones and computers.

Is it safe to open a QR code link?

Check the address first. Scammers sometimes stick fake QR codes on parking meters or posters, or send them by email, to lead you to fake payment or login pages.
